Getting a residence permit for the purpose of family reunification
Advantages: This is the easiest and cheapest way to get a residence permit for family members of the person who already has a residence permit. Husband / wife on reunification has the right to work immediately (but you still need to get permission on the labor exchange). A husband / wife on reunion can open s.r.o. or individual entrepreneurship and conduct business.
Disadvantages: Residence permit directly depends on the residence permit of the reuniting person.
Necessary steps:

The certificate and apostille (superlegalization) are made in the country from which the certificate has been issued and translated into Slovak language by a licensed state interpreter (price is 23 euros per page).
A certificate is not needed for children under 14 years old. - Birth certificate with an apostille (superlegalization) for the reunification of children (single dependant parent) and a certificate of marriage with an apostille (superlegalization) for the reunification of the husband / wife. Then the evidence should be translated by a judicial interpreter in Slovakia. The cost for translation is about 40 euros.
- Confirmation of the accommodation in Slovakia. Should be given in form of a notarized statement from the owner of the apartment which is handed over to you, and a certificate from the real estate cadaster for this apartment.
Usually, the apartment is already rented by the reuniting person. - Statement of financial guarantees for Person. Account statement from the bank with the amount of at least 2400 euros for each grown up (husband/wife/dependant single relative) and 1200 euros for each child.
- In the case of the reunification of children, if the second parent does not have a residence permit and does not apply for reunification, then his notarized consent for the departure and reunification of the child, with the apostille and translated into Slovak, is mandatory.
- After receiving the residence permit card within 30 days, you must pass a mandatory medical examination and report it to the police. The cost of medical examination is 198 euros.
